Our Warranty Philosophy

We believe great homes are built with care — and supported with integrity.

At H&L, we combine experience, craftsmanship, and honesty to make your renovation process professional, positive, and stress-free — from dream to design to build, and beyond.

Some items are covered under warranty. Some are part of normal home ownership. Some fall under manufacturer warranties. No matter what, we’ll help you understand the best path forward.


What’s Covered

Workmanship Warranty

(1 year from project handoff)

We stand behind our labor and installation. If something isn’t functioning or performing correctly due to workmanship, we’ll make it right.

Common examples include:

  • Cabinet doors or drawers needing adjustment

  • Interior doors rubbing or not latching properly

  • Trim separation caused by normal seasonal movement (within the first year)

  • Caulk or grout failure related to installation

  • Tile or finish issues tied to workmanship

  • Paint failure caused by prep or application


Manufacturer Warranties

Many products in your home — such as appliances, plumbing fixtures, lighting, hardware, and specialty items — carry their own manufacturer warranties.

Your Home Binder includes:

  • Product names and model numbers

  • Manufacturer warranty links

  • Care and maintenance guidelines

If you’re unsure how to submit a manufacturer claim, we’re happy to help point you in the right direction.


What’s Not Covered (But We Can Still Help)

Homes are meant to be lived in, and some issues are part of normal wear, seasonal change, or routine maintenance.

Examples include:

  • Normal wear and tear from daily use

  • Damage from pets, kids, furniture, moisture, or misuse

  • Hairline drywall cracks from seasonal movement after the first year

  • Clogged drains or maintenance-related plumbing issues

  • Finish wear on floors, countertops, or painted surfaces

  • Storm damage or other acts of nature

If something isn’t covered under warranty, we can still help coordinate repairs or maintenance at a reasonable cost.


1-Year Home Tune-Up (Included)

After living in your renovated space through all four seasons, small adjustments are normal. To keep everything looking and functioning like new, we include a complimentary 1-Year Home Tune-Up.

What’s Included

Up to 6 hours of minor punch-list and adjustment items, such as:

  • Cabinet door and drawer alignment

  • Door hinge and latch adjustments

  • Tightening hardware and handles

  • Minor caulk touch-ups in moving seams

  • Small trim or finish touch-ups

  • Minor drywall seam movement

  • Paint touch-ups using existing touch-up paint

What’s Not Included

  • New damage or new scope

  • Full repainting or paint blending

  • Major movement or moisture issues

  • Product failure (typically handled through manufacturer warranty)

To request your tune-up, submit the same form and select “1-Year Home Tune-Up.”

We recommend living with a list for a week or two and submitting everything at once so we can complete it efficiently in one visit.

  • Absolutely. While workmanship warranty is one year, we’re always available to help with maintenance, repairs, or guidance.

  • Anything involving safety or active water (active leaks, electrical hazards). Please call us immediately at (585-451-2428) and shut off water or power if it’s safe to do so.
