CANANDAIGUA FARMHOUSE MUDROOM
Renovating a working farm in Canandaigua required a thoughtful approach to enhance both functionality and aesthetic appeal. The client sought to create more usable space while updating the adjoining bathroom, ensuring it reflected the charm of their farmhouse style. Incorporating chrome fixtures added a modern touch, while wainscoting provided a classic, rustic feel. Barnwood shelving complemented the overall design, creating a cohesive look that honored the farm's heritage and offered practical storage solutions. This renovation not only meets the client's needs but also preserves the character of their beloved farmhouse.
The prior space was very dark and not fully functional for a working farm. The client wanted more light and a very durable tile floor that could withstand lots of wear & tear. So we removed their narrow door and window and added a glass sliding door and selected 24x36 inch slabs of slate tile for their floor. And added lots of open shelving for muddy boots & shoes as well as closed cabinets for supplies.
We used two shades of Sherwin Williams shades of slate blue: Cadet & Slate Tile and added the barn wood accents, paying homage to the fact that this is a working farm. It’s a perfect fit!
