Our Team
AND SOME FUN FACTS ABOUT THEM!
Luke and Hannah
FOUNDER AND CEO
“I have always been drawn to challenges, much like my days as a downhill ski racer in high school, where precision and speed were paramount. Despite my passion for tools—often described as a tool junkie—I find that my hands-on experience has become more about overseeing rather than participating directly, however once and a while I get to take a swing with a hammer and that’s always fun. One of the most significant projects I undertook was my first full addition. During the demolition phase, we stumbled upon three different foundations, none of which could support the new structure. It was a daunting surprise that required immediate action. Collaboration became essential; I coordinated with an architect, a structural engineer, the mason, and, importantly, the clients. We not only revised the initial plans but also finished on schedule, a testament to our collective effort and adaptability. The end result exceeded our original vision which was neat!”
Andrew
PROJECT MANAGER, TILE SPECIALIST
The guy who oversees every project with perfection and humor maintains a unique approach that blends professionalism with a personal touch.
After living in rural Alaska for four months, he brings a fresh perspective and adaptability to the team. His experiences have taught him the value of strong relationships, which is evident in how he interacts with clients. Meeting each customer fosters an environment where trust and communication thrive.
Currently, he is particularly enjoying the Sandringham Rd Closet project. It’s not just about the work; it’s about making spaces functional and personalized, all while maintaining a sense of humor that makes the process enjoyable for everyone involved. Each detail is carefully considered, ensuring that the final result reflects the client’s vision perfectly.

“Riding a motorcycle across the country offers a unique perspective on adventure, reflecting a spirit of exploration. In our line of work, that spirit translates into taking pride in utilizing years of expertise on each project. The Baker job stands out in my memory as a remarkable undertaking, showcasing a complete transformation of their first floor. Every detail was considered, leading to a space that significantly enhanced their home and lifestyle. This is what we strive for at H&L Design + Build—turning visions into reality through dedication and skill.”
Dominic
PROJECT LEAD, TILE SPECIALIST
He is the first person we find when it’s time to move the heavy stuff!
“Under optimal conditions and with the right, high-quality equipment, I find that I am capable of bench pressing an impressive 315 pounds. Among all the aspects of my role, the most enjoyable part has been the opportunity to engage and bond with the adorable pets of our clients. The Otool job holds particular significance for me because of the exceptional tile work we executed, showcasing our skills and dedication. I have consistently prioritized excellence in every trade I engage in, and I was especially pleased with the outstanding quality of the tile installation we successfully achieved..”

BUILD CREW
You can count on this guy to do whatever needs to get done. He’s also got jokes!
“Fun fact....I have a twin brother, we were the second set of twins. Our parents had two sets of twins. The people I get to work with and the tools I get to use of course. Every project I have done from the start of my time here at H & L sticks with me and has allowed me to better my craft for every next project. Throughout my time working at H & L, I've had the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills that I didn't initially possess when I first started. At the beginning of my journey, I had a basic understanding of home improvement/remodeling, but over the course of numerous projects, I've gained invaluable skills across many different areas. I've gained hands-on skills in various trades, from framing and drywall installation to plumbing, tiling, flooring and electrical work. While I initially had little experience in these areas, I’ve been fortunate enough to work alongside experienced members who have shared their knowledge, allowing me to gain a deeper understanding of each trade.”
Harry
PROJECT LEAD, CARPENTER SPECIALIST
Did you know he majored in Historical Preservation? Harry knows stuff!
“Fun fact: I referee boys high school basketball for Section V back in Boston. After college, I attended the North Bennet Street School, the oldest trade school in the country. During my first and second years there, I interned with the National Park Service, working on different projects around the country, including the White House.
My first project with H&L, after we wrapped up, the homeowners left us a note, which I kept. Their words mean a lot to me and remind me of what makes H&L special, both in the service we provide to clients but also the community we have created for one another as team members.”

If we're stuck, chances are this guy can figure out a way to get us unstuck!
“As a former Marine, I approach challenges with a problem-solving mindset that is both disciplined and adaptable. The work I do here at H&L Design + Build is a departure from my military background, yet it offers a unique opportunity to apply those skills in a different context. The baker project in Brockport stands out as a pivotal experience for me. The complexities we faced required innovative solutions and teamwork, ultimately culminating in a result that filled us all with pride. Each project reinforces my dedication to our craft and the collaborative spirit of our team. Every challenge we encounter not only tests us but also strengthens our commitment to excellence in every facet of what we do.”
Jesse
PROJECT LEAD, FRAMING SPECIALIST
When you hear his infectious laugh (SO LOUD) you can’t help but smile! It resonates with joy and positivity, setting a delightful tone for any project.
“Fun fact: I love trees more than most things. Their beauty and strength inspire creativity in our designs. Transitioning an existing space into something that was only previously imagined is a thrilling challenge. The process allows us to bring visions to life, crafting environments that reflect both functionality and personal touch. While no specific job stands out to me, each experience brings its own set of ups and downs. Common issues reappear, along with new challenges, which serve as the backbone of learning. It's a continuous exercise in problem-solving and thinking outside the box, ensuring that each project is unique and fulfilling.”

BUILD CREW
We appreciate this guy’s can-do attitude and is always thinking outside the box.
“I frequently find myself purchasing tools, likely adding another to my collection before you finish reading this. At H&L Design + Build, I often engage in discussions about tools that I certainly don’t need, yet I find the conversations stimulating and insightful. One project that stands out in my memory is the Tice master bathroom. This particular job pushed me out of my comfort zone, requiring me to tackle tasks I hadn't yet fully embraced. Through this experience, I've gained confidence in working at heights and navigating challenging spaces. I absorbed invaluable lessons from that project, and I still refer back to the skills and techniques I developed during the process.”

COO & DESIGN COORDINATOR
Our multi-talented friend loves having her hands in a little bit of everything.
“Lake > Ocean. I have had an irrational fear of sharks since watching Jaws when I was ten. At H&L, I do a little bit of everything... design (interior & graphic), marketing, and business operations, which is fun for me. I like that every day is completely different than the day before. Keeps me on my toes!I'll never forget my first two projects I handled at H&L. The Hilton Kitchen and Brighton Second Story Renovation... both clients were so wonderful and they provided such great experiences and outcomes that I knew I was in the right place!”
Rachel C.
DESIGN LEAD
With 15 years of interior experience, she’s our design expert.
“Fun fact about me is I was in a Broadway play as a baby and played a boy! I did some commercials and also training videos for Kodak! I love being part of a great team. Not only do I design for H&L, but I also provide my clients with a trusted and talented team of professionals. After 9 months with H&L, we are really getting into some projects together! Not only with clients, but my own. Currently, I am doing a decent-sized remodel and experiencing the process as a homeowner. It’s important to connect with clients and understand first-hand what it’s like to live through a kitchen, bathroom, and mudroom/laundry room remodel all at once. I’m happy for this perspective, and the process has been great!”

“I am an identical twin! We looked so much alike growing up that my mom had to keep my toenails painted bright red to know which one was me! I absolutely love going into a finished space and seeing the final product, but the thing I love most is hearing about how much clients enjoyed having the H&L team in their home. They genuinely miss them when the project is over, which is a testament to the caliber of people on the build team. I am SUPER lucky to have had TWO spaces in my home remodeled by H&L—my kitchen and basement. I walk into those rooms with immense gratitude. I usually step into a project here and there to grab photos and content, but I witnessed their hard work and incredible skills every day. Their talent in what they do is truly impressive.”
Eleena
ASSOCIATE DESIGNER
Our Houzz Pro expert is a vital part of the H&L team, always eager to engage in projects and provide support.
“I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, which I hear is a rare thing these days. I work behind the scenes at H&L, managing various tasks within the company and I love it! Although I am new to H&L I have always loved working with clients who struggle to articulate their vision, but can express dislikes. This provides a chance to refine the design process. This prompts deep engagement, helping clients discover their style through insightful questions. Interiors should reflect personal experience, engaging the senses and life narratives. Each room must evoke feelings, memories, and comfort, mirroring the inhabitant's journey. I aim to create meaningful environments that are visually appealing and uniquely personal. This interplay of sensory engagement and backstory makes every project special, transforming spaces into sanctuaries that tell a story.”
